Personal Photography Tuition Workshops

Have you got a camera that's sitting on a shelf somewhere gathering dust?  Is your camera stuck on AUTO but you want to shoot in MANUAL? Does your website or your social media stream desperately need updating with some quality visual content?  Does your budget mean that you can't hire a professional to provide you with the photographic images you want?  If this sounds familiar to you or your organisation, then book a Photography Workshop and learn how to do it yourself. Call +44 (0)7796 884 373 or email

Personal Tuition Details

Personal tuition sessions are relaxed, informal and above all fun, as they are tailored to your experience level and interests.  They normally start over a coffee while you learn how your camera works, followed by a couple of hours putting it all in to practice in a central London location, see details below.

Personal tuition will make you will feel confident in using your camera and ready to create your own stunning images.

Sessions can be held either during the day or if you're feeling a bit more adventurous, I also run low light/nighttime sessions to capture the city in a different light.  For nighttime sessions however, a tripod is essential.  If necessary tripods can be hired although this would incur an additional £20.00 charge.

Personal tuition is suitable for individuals or small groups, but in order to get the most out of a session, groups are limited in size to no more than four people.  For larger groups, or workshops, please get in contact.

Daytime sessions start at at a time to suit your convenience.

Nighttime sessions start one hour before sunset.  Please contact me for times.

All sessions last three hours

As personal tuition sessions are tailored to your needs, locations vary accordingly.  Unless specific locations are requested, sessions will be held either along the South Bank area of the Thames between Waterloo and Tate Modern or within the City, anywhere from Tower Hill to Brick Lane, Leadenhall Market or the area around the Royal Exchange. Other popular locations include London Bridge and Borough Market or Kings Cross and St. Pancras.

Locations for nighttime sessions will cover either the area between London Bridge and Tower Bridge, the Southbank and the area around Westminster Bridge, or the area around Tate Modern and the Millennium Bridge, according to your preference.  For specific meeting points, please get in touch.

Daytime session £95.00 pp

Nighttime session £150.00 pp

All workshop participants must bring a Digital SLR or bridge camera capable of shooting in full manual mode.  If required I can provide rental cameras (Nikon D3200 with 18-55mm lens or similar) for an additional cost of £45.00 each. For Night Sessions, clients must bring a tripod. Tripods are available for hire at an additional cost if required.

Capture One Tuition

I use Capture One Pro for my workflow as I find it is by far the best post processing software on the market. If you are unfamiliar with this software, a free 30 day trial can be downloaded here. I am able to provide an introduction to Capture One workshop as a personal tuition session for 1-2 people. Sessions take place either at clients' home or office or in a cafe location in central London.

Cost for a three hour session is £110.00 per person

"It is the 3rd photography workshop I have been on and was by far the best. Steve managed to make things so clear and I am thrilled to finally be able to use my camera properly. I'm looking forward to taking some fancy photos soon."

 Cordelia Lean

"I thoroughly enjoyed Steve’s course and I appreciated his relaxed style of training. He managed to compress a lot of technical information about the main features of professional cameras into a short amount of time, without making me feel overwhelmed. The session was well paced, with opportunities to stop and explore the main camera features. The segment on framing and composition was particularly interesting, with many useful tips and inspiring examples from Steve’s work. The course has certainly whetted my appetite for photography and I’m now looking forward to buying a new camera and practicing."
